In lofty heights the olives are harvested by hand

To harvest the olives in the upper areas of the treetop, a special Ladder "Scalì" (Scala Monomontante a Pioli) is used on Lake Garda. Put the ladder outside at 65 °-75 ° to a crotch to get a safe grip and attach it to the top of the branch. Since every olive farmer I know has fallen from the ladder, I prefer to secure it with harness and slings. For harvesting by hand, "Pince" is used on Lake Garda–> Video: https://youtu.be/fKrWOQAT618. They allow a quick harvest as several cracks with olives can be pulled off. Nowadays, however, it is usually harvested mechanically with "Abbacchiatori".
