The grape hyacinth (muscari botryoides)

The grape hyacinth is common in the campo. Although it is a neophyte, it is on the protected species list in some countries. The plant was brought from the Middle East to Central Europe around 1600 and was released out of the gardens. The flowers are usually solitary because they do not divide through the bulbs.
