The clippings are burned

To reduce disease and vermin, the pruning is burned to branches as thick as a thumb. Thicker branches are processed into firewood and trunks into wood for tools. I hope that I will soon be able to compost the tree cuttings, but for that I need water so that the compost heap doesn’t dry out and die in the summer.
